The focus of Research Training Group Immune Response in Infectious Diseases – Regulation between Innate and Adaptive Immunity lies on the interaction between innate and adaptive immunity in infectious diseases.
The University of Duisburg-Essen and the Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf is offering 12 PhD positions in Germany- E 13 TV-L, 65 % and 2 MD/PhD positions – E13 TV-L, within the DFG-funded Research Training Group 1949 (GRK 1949).
This DFG funding scheme has been established to qualify doctoral researchers within the framework of a focused research program and a structured training strategy.

The duration of the PhD or MD/PhD position will be up to three years max. The salary is in accordance with the German public service salary scale (PhD: TV-L E 13, 65%), (MD/PhD: TV-L E 13, 90 %).

Excellent graduation in the fields of medical biology, biology, medicine, biochemistry, or biotechnology (Master or equivalent)
Proven interest in one or more of the above-indicated research fields

Disposed to work with laboratory animals (depending on the project)
Very good written and spoken English skills
